Unreached People Groups

What is a UPG?
An Unreached People Group is a cluster of people defined by their language, tribe, and/or culture. For all practical purposes, they have never been presented with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There might be a few Christians among them, but the number would be less than percentage point of the actual population. The population of a UPG may number from a few hundred all the way to several million!

What is involved in adopting a UPG?
There are several considerations in joining this ministry effort:
  • You as an individual Christian and your church as the people of God, should commit to focused, long-term, intentional and intelligent prayer for the group. Educate yourself about the people you have adopted.
  • After you implement a prayer strategy, develop other ministry strategies with realistic goals.
  • Discover if there are other existing efforts being made to minister to these people.
  • Investigate how and where financial support can be be used in current or developing ministries.
  • In time, develop ministries to those of the UPG that have immigrated to the U.S. Use those as a spring board for mission trips and other ministries to the Group.
  • Utilize online resources that provide fresh information and share your discoveries with others. We have collected a list of online resources to get you started!
